Two guests join us this week on First Person. David and Nancy Guthrie are the parents of three children. However, two of them died in infancy, victims of Zellweger Syndrome.
At the time of baby Hope’s birth, David and Nancy did not know that they were the genetic carriers of this devastating gene that would take the life of their baby after just 199 days. After Hope’s death, steps were taken to avoid another pregnancy, but Nancy did become pregnant with Gabriel who tragically also died after just 183 days.
The Guthrie’s grieved as any parents would, but God also opened their eyes to many other parents who are grieving the loss of their children. As a result, David and Nancy today minister to these parents through writing and Respite Retreats. Their next retreat is scheduled for Labor Day weekend and there is more information at www.nancyguthrie.com.
Nancy and David talk to Wayne this week on First Person not only about their grief, but also about the hope they have in Jesus Christ.
