Mark Gregston

Mark Gregston and I have shared the microphone on the radio show PARENTING TODAY’S TEENS for 15 years, but we have never talked about the topic that we cover on this week’s FIRST PERSON. When Mark’s beloved dog, Stitch, died the grief that Mark and his wife, Jan, felt was deep. And it got Mark thinking about what people say about pets that die. What do we tell ourselves and what do we tell our children.

The result was that Mark wrote a children’s book, full of colorful illustrations, that helps all– children AND adults– deal with the grief and loss of a pet. It’s titled WHERE’S STITCH? Any one who has gone through it knows the pain, and Mark’s simple, sweet story can help.
